Sri Kandaswami Kandar Trust

Sri Kandaswami Kandar wanted his wealth to be spent on education, and education alone. To achieve this, he left all his properties and income for charity and he established a Trust to carry on his work. After his death, as he had no issues, there was a struggle among his relatives to grab his wealth and they disputed that the will was not genuine. Educational activities came to a standstill but finally the Courts declared that the will was genuine and the Trust was allowed to continue its work.

The newly formed Trust Board was registered under the Societies Act. A School Committee was constituted. The higher elementary school started in the year 1925 was converted into a high school in 1945, and the School celebrated its Silver Jubilee in 1949. Sri Manickavel Naicker the then Chief Minister of the Madras Presidency presided over the celebrations.
